Any Questions? Answers Here!

When does the course start?

The course starts during the week beginning 20th January 2020. Live classes will be generally held on Tuesdays at 1pm (GMT).

What else will I need to buy?

Yes, there are a couple of essential things you'll need to run your podcast:

  1. Podcast hosting (around £15 / $19 per month)
  2. A microphone (around £50/$50)

Everything else you can get for free, including recording software, editing software and artwork, but here are a few things you might want to add to your shopping list:

  1. High quality recording tools (around £15 / $20 per month)
  2. Professional artwork (around £200 / $270)
  3. Extra microphone for in-person interviews (around £70 / $70)
  4. Podcast-specific editing tools (around £20 / $28 per month)
  5. Theme music (around £15 / $20)
  6. Professionally produced intro and outro (around £150 / $200)

Why 60 Days? Can I do it quicker? Or slower?

We'll be teaching every lesson live, but you'll know everything you need to know by week 6 – or around the 40 day mark. After that it's 2 weeks of implementation and a big Q&A ‘troubleshooting' session in week 8. So, if you're ready to go during week 7 or 8, you're welcome to launch early!

Colin has helped to launch 100s of podcasts over the past 10 years, though, and in his experience, 4o to 60 days is an ideal length of time. Not so short that's it's super pressured, and not so long that you lose motivation. It's very, very hard to do a good job, from scratch, in less time.

Why Podcasting, and not a Blog or YouTube?

Good question! In an ideal world, you'd do all 3. It's possible to create a blog, a podcast and a video all in one content creation activity.

But, in reality, it's good to concentrate on one, at first, and build out from there. Podcasting is a great started method for a few reasons:

  • The gear and software required for podcasting is much simpler than video
  • You can record with a script in podcasting, allowing for easier planning and creation
  • Competition is lower in podcasting than video or blogging
  • The attention is amazing in podcasting – people listen for literally hours at a time
  • Podcasting is an intimate, one-to-one medium that grows fanatical fans quickly
  • It works brilliantly alongside blogging, since you'll be creating shownotes too

What does the course include?

  • Eight weeks of online training (modules outlined above). Classes are taught live
  • Recordings of all classes/calls
  • Bonus sessions on running great interviews, repurposing your podcast & being a great podcast guest
  • Dedicated Facebook group for Q & A and support

Will I get any discounts on podcasting tools?

Yes, Colin and Janet both work with a few different podcasting and media creation tools, so we'll be getting as many discounts for you as we can on things like Podcast Hosting, Editing software and more.

Does having a podcast really help my business?

Yes, it's one of the best ways to stand out, as a small company, by putting your personality out there for all to see. It attracts attention, and builds trusting fans like no other medium.

Janet thinks so too – her show has been instrumental in helping her build a large and engaged online audience. This has allowed her to build a multi-six figures business selling online courses and coaching, including her popular Build Your Online Audience Programme. It also helps her sell out her live events and a physical product – the 2020 Social Media Diary & Planner.

Janet believes the intimacy of podcasting – the fact you're quite literally in someone's earbuds – helps you build a closer relationship with prospective clients/customers. Which is why it can be such an effective way to attract leads and sales for your business.

What if I can't make it along to the live sessions?

Every live lesson will be recorded so if you have to miss one, or more than one, you can always look back and watch them in your own time.

You'll still get all the resources that go with the lessons, and you can ask questions in the private Facebook community that goes along with this course.

What if I have questions during the course?

There is a private Facebook group for people that have purchased the course, where you can ask questions, get feedback and assistance.

How long will I have access to the course?

You will have access to the course for a year from your purchase date.

I'm not techie at all! Can I do this??

Yes, you can 😊

Our aim is to make this as simple and easy as possible, and it's entirely possible to make a podcast without taking on any really techie work at all. We'll show you how to edit, easily, and how to record in a simple way.

How much time will this take up?

Each week, there's a 90 minute live session, and then you should plan for another 2 to 2.5 hours of work in your own time. You can allocate more if you like, but that's a safe minimum.

That means around 4 hours, per week, throughout the course. With that investment of one morning, or one afternoon, each week, for 8 weeks, we can make sure you get that show live, and out into the world, by March.

Do you offer refunds?

Please be advised that we don’t offer refunds, so please read the course description carefully and email us on [email protected] with any questions you have before buying so you can ensure you’re making the right decision.

Richard Brown

“I only have great things to say about The Podcast Host. Not only in the quality of their production work, but also with their knowledge and insights around technology, equipment & advice in podcasting.”

Richard Brown
Director, The Property Voice

“Colin is the man when it comes to helping you launch a podcast or improving your podcasting skills. The online courses were invaluable and his advice along the way superb.”

Andrew Hart
Financial Advisor, The Voyantist

“As someone who literally had no idea how to go about starting a podcast I am so glad I found Colin! If I hadn’t signed up for the Producer Package then I know I would have become completely overwhelmed and would never have managed to bring my podcasting plans to fruition. I’m going to be honest and say that I worried about the monthly cost but I can safely say that it is indeed money well spent. The time I have saved trying to learn to do all of the things that Colin took off my hands has been spent creating good content and building my platform. Colin and the team have a great system going. Everything is streamlined and easy and [the team are] there as a mentor throughout. If you want to concentrate on creating great content for your show, hire the Podcast Host to worry about everything else!”

Jackie Brambles

Despite my 30 years of experience in programme-making, Colin and his team’s insight into what makes a podcast compelling is invaluable. I would strongly advise any first-time podcaster to bring The Podcast Host on board as your podcast coach, partner and safety net. Both he and Matthew were calm, reassuring and had endless patience whenever I stumbled and got me back up and running quickly, with even more knowledge as a bonus. I honestly wouldn’t make a podcast without them and I’d strongly suggest, neither should you!

Simon Allison

Colin and his team have been a massive help in setting up our series of podcasts. My colleagues and I went into the world of podcasting knowing nothing. However with Colin’s support, it turned a really legal podcast into something fresh and exciting. The Podcast Host was instrumental in assisting us, from a theme tune to giving us useful content to use in our podcasts. We have turned from Podcast Plebs into to Podcast Prim-donnas! We would recommend The Podcast Host to anyone.
